Mechanism of action of CD105 through TGF-β receptor complex. CD105 is first associated with receptor TGR-βR2. This association allows the binding of TGF-β 1 or 3 ligands to the complex. The binding of these ligands to the receptor complex will then activate TGF-βR2 to phosphorylate TGF-βR1. Phosphorylation of TGF-βR1, also known as activin receptor-like kinase (ALK), will initiate two intracellular downstream signaling pathways that are activated by two different subtypes of TGF-βR1 (ALK1 or ALK5).
